Its a Girl!

DominicsMom went to one of her normal pre-natal check-ups where they did an ultrasound. The doctor asked her if she wanted to know what the baby was, but when DominicsMom hesitated, the doctor offered to write it down and put it in an envelope. DominicsMom gratefully agreed. So tonight we opened the envelope and we are having a little girl in about 5 months! DominicsMom cried a bit. We then turned to Dominic and told him he was going to have a little sister. He backed up a bit, waved his arms as if to say 'no', then he turned and ran off into the kitchen. I guess he doesn't want a little sister! (Actually, I think he just wanted us to get him something to drink...)

Here is the first ultrasound. Somehow the doctor was able to determine we are having a girl. I couldn't tell. All I can sort of see is her butt and two legs...
Looks like a side shot here...

DominicsMom and I are really excited, I think we both wanted a little girl. Someone we can spoil in a different manner...

More Pics

I got in trouble for this one, I put him in mis-matched PJ's for the evening. It is getting too cold for short sleeves and short pants, but we were out of short sleeved, long pants PJs, they were all in the wash. So I mixed two sets. I got a very grudging OK from DominicsMom, but I stepped over the line when I took a picture of him in them.

We went out an bought 2 new sets of PJ's a couple of days later...

He's completely tuckered out in this one.

Enjoy! DominicsDad

Boo Boo

Today Dominic was running around the couch to show me something. He stumbled on the carpet and bit his tongue. Instantly, his face crumbled and he came to me. He stuck out his tongue and pointed to it, showing me where it hurt. We had started to kiss his 'boo-boo' to make it feel better. So he promptly came to me with his tongue out, still pointing to it. It was obvious to me what he wanted, he wanted me to kiss his tongue!

Yuck!

But as it was my duty, I kissed his tongue...and as soon as he turned around, I was wiping off my face to get rid of the slober!

B-Day Pics 2

Grandma is holding the little guy. He has his Birthday Boy ribbon on!
Nana & Grandma giving Dominic a cookie the day after.

B-Day Pics 1

Dominic got hold of the balloons a little early.
One of his new toys, a Thomas train that he can ride on. It makes lots of noise! Yay!!! More noise to listen to constantly! But truely, he enjoys it and he has fun with it.

Birthday Party

The D-man celebrated his second birthday Saturday afternoon. Nana, DominicsMom, and myself took him up to Grandma & Grandpa's house for his birthday. DominicsMom actually drove up Friday evening (taking 2 1/2 hrs, fighting LA traffic the whole way.) Nana & I drove him up in my Mustang Saturday morning. This short trip reinforced my desire to sell the Mustang (breaks my heart!) and purchase a four-door sedan of some sort, but that is a story for another post...

Dominic started the party early, playing with the decorations. He dragged around some of the balloons and ran around the house. We had to keep him occupied before everyone showed up, so I took him out the front door. He walked around the cars a bit and then I tried to take him in. He would have nothing to do with it, he wanted to stay outside. So I let him guide me back around and into the garage. He had seen one of his gifts, a Thomas train he could sit on and ride. So he got that one early...

We had family and friends come by and Dominic had a wonderful time playing with the other kids. He knew it was his day as he ran around the house. When it was time to sing Happy Birthday to him, he suddenly became shy and hid his face. The first gift he opened was a new Thomas video and it was very difficult to keep him in my lap to open the rest of the presents. He wanted to try out the new video NOW! Kelly and Megan were immense helps, bringing new gifts and helping Dominic open the one in front of him.

Thank you to all who came and to all who could not be there.

Dancing Dominic

DominicsMom was at home with Dominic today. She let him watch the Wiggles, one of his favorite shows. It is an Australian children's program, made up of 4 guys who dance and sing during the show. There is Greg, Anthony, Jeff, & Murray. Plus Wags the Dog and Capt FeatherSword the pirate.

Previously, Dominic has often swayed to whatever music is playing on the TV. He often sways from side-to-side or bobs his head to the music, but now he has begun to try and imitate the Wiggles' dance moves! Pretty cute!

Labor Day Weekend

It was another busy weekend for Dominic. DominicsCousin had a party for her 5th birthday Saturday afternoon and the little guy was invited. He likes her place as they have a working electric train! He absolutely loves it. Whenever there is a pause in what he is doing, he is off to see the train. Try prying him away from it. Tough the first time. And the second. And the third. The fifth time is a little tiring...

He also likes her place because they have a pool! DominicsDad took him into the pool and he had a great time! Dominic loves the water, as long as none gets into his eyes. He was splashing around and playing with the other kids the whole time. He had a great time at the party and was asleep before we got home.
Sunday we planned on driving up to Grandma & Grandpa's house, but our schedule was such that most of the trip would be before his normal nap time. Not a good plan for a relaxing drive up to LA. So I ran out to Target and bought a portable DVD player with a built in screen. About 40 minutes into the trip, the little guy started to get bored and antsy. So we broke out the DVD player, put in his Bob the Builder DVD and started it up. The look on his face was classic, something like, "You can do this? Play a video in the car? And why haven't you done this earlier?" We had a nice smooth ride the whole way....Definitely a must for rides over 30 minutes.

Dominic always has a great time at Grandma & Grandpa's house. They bought him a small electric train and he was enthralled for hours. He would just watch it and go "whoo whoo!" (and then he'd kick it over or pick up the engine.) We returned late Monday afternoon and Dominic watched Bear in the Big Blue House.

Swimming Pool

Yesterday afternoon I picked Dominic up from day care. DominicsMom was still at work...Anyways, the little guy walked up to the back door and then immediately indicated that he wanted to go outside. Not having any reason to say no, I let him out and followed him. He made a bee-line straight to a small kiddy-pool that we have filled in the back yard. Before I could grab him, he was in...then he sat down...still in his clothes and diaper. So we stayed out and played! He had a great time, until he was ready to leave. I stripped him down in the back and wiped him down with his t-shirt. Then I had to carry his naked little butt upstairs! But he had a good time and I enjoyed watching him.
