A Visit

DominicsGrandma Nana and Grandpa Tom came by this weekend for Jocelyn's birthday. Here are a couple of quick pictures of Nana and Papa Tom reading to the kids. I'll have more later, including a clip where we once again prove that the kids have more fun with the box that the toy came in than with the toy itself...

The Things Kids Say

Jocelyn doesn't talk a whole lot, or I should say, she doesn't speak a lot of English. She does love to babble baby-speak to us however. Lately, her vocabulary has started to grow quickly, but she does have a few favorite words, like "No" and "Stop". "Stop" comes out " 'top! "

For example, I got a "Dada 'top!" I was doing something she didn't approve of and she let me know it. Dominic gets a lot of 'tops! She cannot yet pronounciate Dominics name, so he is "Nom" and she says "Jai" for Jocelyn. It took Dominic a couple of days, but he now answers to Nom, that is when he is listening. I'm still trying to figure out who he listens more to, DominicsMom or Jocelyn.

I think Jocelyn...

Some of her other phrases:
Dada!?!
Da? (this phrase can mean that, Daddy, give me, look at that....)
No.
No no…
I like! I like!
Moi (more - sometimes she pronounces it correctly)

Today DominicsMom gave Dominic and Joss some hot chocolate. After she had finished, Joss went over to DominicsMom and said "I like! I like!" In other words, she wanted more...

Dominic also has some favorite phrases:

Why?
Mommy! I maaaaade pooo-poooo!
Ohhh nooo! Not again Joss!
Stop following me!
Why?
Why?
What is that (man/dog/shark/fish/etc) doing? Why?

Nana Goes Snowshoeing!

Speaking of snow, DominicsGrandma Nana recently went snowshoeing! It sounds like she had a great time, but it sounds like too much work to me (or it reminds me too much of humping a huge pack up 9494 at the Marine Corps Mountain Warfare School...)

Here is a brief excerpt from her e-mail:

Hi all, Here's some pics from my snowshoeing day today - first time I've ever done that. Great workout. The second pic make it look like we're climbing Mt. Hood but we were just 5,000 feet high. Mt. Hood is more than 11,000 ft high.

Here are the pictures:

Playing in the Snow!

As I promised, here are some photos and a video from when we took the kids up to Mt Baldy. They both had a great time. Jocelyn was all about the sledding and while Dominic enjoyed it, he liked to just play in the snow and build a snowman or snowballs (to throw at Daddy!)

Here Joss went down the hill and it was one of her first times. You can tell because of the finger trail she left in the snow as she went down the hill! Look at the photo closely and you can see the marks in the snow that she left as she tried to stop herself.... She got better, I promise!
And here's Dominic, the consumate professional....

Like I said, she got better! She really enjoyed sledding down the hill and she went over and over again. You can see Dominic in the background playing in the snow with DominicsGramama Pat.

Kids Playing

Here's another photo of Joss taking down Dominic with a classic wrestler's move.

Here's the kids playing sea turtle...except sea turtles are a lot quieter.

This weekend we went up to Mt Baldy and the kids were able to play in the snow. It was Jocelyn's first time and probably the first time in 2 years that Dominic was able to play in the snow. They both had a great time sledding down small slopes and Dominic built a minature snowman. Photos (hopefully!) coming soon.

Not again!

This evening Dominic and Joss were crawling around and under the dinner table. There was a big bump (the whole table shook, so it was a BIG bump) and Jocelyn emerged, holding her head and howling. DominicsMom picked her up to console her. Dominic was sitting by me and when he heard what Joss had done, he held his head and moaned, "Oh no! Not again!"

He did this several more times as DominicsMom and I bust up laughing...
